The ongoing handicraft-circle charity project has been active since 2006. Through this project, Synocus organizes monthly meetings for retirees interested in handicrafts as well as a biannual, self-financed excursion. The handicraft circle has participated in a number of charitable campaigns.

The 2012 GeRo project surveyed Helsinki’s Swedish-language, private elderly care facilities, assessing their current state, future operating environments, and operating models. This research formed the basis for a vision, strategy, and action plan for the development of the competitiveness and business of the elderly care facilities operated by the GeRo community.

In the spring of 2008, Synocus, together with the City of Karjaa and the municipality of Pohja, conducted a scenario project which studied the coming Raasepori region’s future and its future needs of its elderly residents. The Svenska pensionärsförshundet provided the project with a connection to the non-profit sector. The project’s workshops were attended by regional residents, officials, and other regional decision makers.

In the fall of 2007, Synocus developed a concept, by means of the scenario planning approach, for a new physical rehabilitation hospital. Among the contributors to the participatory brainstorming process were patients, their relatives, and staff from the existing hospital, as well as officials form the City of Espoo. This group work was preceded by a series of interviews which included over ten people key to developing a comprehensive understanding. The City of Espoo utilized the results of the scenario planning project in the hospital’s design competition.

In 2007, Synocus conducted a scenario planning project together with the municipality of Kirkkonummi which ascertained the future service needs and offering municipality’s elderly community.

In 2005, the Laadukas Senioriteetti survey gathered over 5000 responses from over-55 year olds in a multi-customer project. The results of this survey were used, for example, to support development of the participating companies’ activity in this sector.


In addition to the aforementioned projects, Syncous also took part in the IKÄ I and IKÄ II (Cluster in Motion) projects from 2004-2006 with Culminatum as well as the 2005-2006 Seniorpolis project in Kainuu together with Seniorpolis Oy.
