The 5th Sino-Finnish Innovativeness Forum provided researchers and city representatives with an opportunity to share their views about the priorities and central aspects in establishing a Low Carbon City.
The forum made the unanimous decision to proceed with the formal inauguration of the World Alliance for Low Carbon Cities (WALCC) as an association with its central office located in Finland, and its China office in Shenzhen. Professor KANG, Feiyu, Dean of the Tsinghua University Graduate School at Shenzhen was elected to become the first chairman of the association to be formed.
Administrative duties of the World Alliance for Low Carbon Cities will, initially, be managed by Synocus Group. The first cities to join the association are expected to present, by the end of the year, a more detailed roadmap, for how the association will complement other similar initiatives addressing the grand challenge of climate change.
